The Closing Ceremony of the Startup Competition 2021 Innovation Competition of the MIT Enterprise Forum Greece (MITEF Greece) was completed with great success, on Tuesday, July 7, at the Alumni Association of Athens College. The day before, a special committee of distinguished judges, members of the Greek and international business and investment scene, listened live, evaluated and graded the presentations of the teams that passed to the final phase of the competition.

The services and products of the young Entrepreneurs were evaluated based on a) the innovation and the competitive advantage of their business proposal and b) the prospects of commercial utilization and presence in the international market.

The Closing Ceremony was prefaced by Mr. Gerasimos Spyridakis, President of MITEF Greece, who thanked the teams, sponsors and strategic partners for their contribution to the work of MITEF Greece and focused on the passion, patience and dedication shown by the startup companies to achieve their goal and promote their business. He also invited everyone to contribute to the vision on which the establishment of MITEF Greece was based, to turn Greece into a Global Center for Technological Innovation.

The work of MITEF Greece and the event were honored by the presence and a short greeting of the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, Mr. Christos Dimas, who awarded the prize to the winning team of the competition, the Financial Attaché of the American Embassy, ​​Mr. Geoffrey Keogh as well as Mr. George Alexopoulos, General Manager of Strategic Planning & New Activities and Executive Member of the Board. to HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group, which for the third year support the competition as the exclusive sponsor of Energy Track.

Important collaborators and sponsors of this year’s competition were present and gave speeches. Mr. Yves Robert-Charrue, Head of Switzerland, Europe, Middle East and Africa and Member of the Executive Committee of Julius Baer Bank, Mr. Nikolas Pyrgiotis, VP of Technology Ventures at Signal Group and Mr. Nikos Tsiouvaras, Director of Research and Development at Systems Sunlight SA.

Marios Stavropoulos, Founder and CEO of Softomotive, was present via live link and through his excellent presentation on the start and course of today, he urged the teams to remain dedicated and focused on their project until they achieve success, as the path to it is never easy and prescribed.

The evening was coordinated by Ms. Antigoni Molodanov, Executive Director of MIT Enterprise Forum Greece while the closing of the event was made with a short thank you speech by Mr. Vassilis Papakonstantinou, Vice President of MIT Enterprise Forum Greece.

The winners were awarded cash prize, as well as prizes in the form of services, provided by sponsors, which will help to enhance the competitiveness of their businesses. The most important benefit for the winners, however, is undoubtedly the international recognition through their promotion by the international network of MITEF Global and their connection with the network of contacts in Greece and abroad, which has at its core the academic and technological community of Boston, USA.
